Production Manager
General
• Support our customers, suppliers, employees and production in the best possible way.
• Carry out the work in the most beneficial way for the company in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Be a good example regarding work ethic, attendance, safety and quality for employees and colleagues.
• Perform daily schedule and spot quality inspections according to assigned specifications.
• Directly supervise manufacturing associates to ensure proper procedures, policies, safety rules and regulations are being followed.
• Manage startup of machines/projects/molds/products into the production. .
• Write and implement work instructions; suggest and implement efficiency improvements and optimizations with Director of Operations.
• Working with Warehouse & Materials Supervisor and Purchasing Department, maintain needed material and supplies needed for the production.
• Manage and supervise employees in assigned area, promoting a strong teamwork orientation.
• Ensure that the warehouse and production area is clean and safe.
• Ensure that the machines are being cleaned, serviced and maintained according to specifications.
• Directs or participate all 6S activities.
• Improve standard operational work, performance, cycle times and scrap reduction to help production team achieve OEE production goals.
• Complete New Employee Orientations
• Adapt to job changes as needed, depending on workflow.
Daily
• Attend, lead and participate in the morning meetings with employees at shift change, focusing on quality and productivity.
• Attend and participate in the daily morning meeting (9am).
• Ensure incoming and outgoing material is being reported correctly and timely.
• Monitor training of new employees in assigned areas.
• Help operators on the production floor when needed.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure the machines are producing according to quality specs.
• Manage flow of materials to production.
• Safely operate forklifts, when needed.
• Provide effective employee coaching and development.
Weekly
• Verify and sign off on all assigned employees’ time cards.
• Send weekly report to Director of Operations (Friday).
• Attend and participate in weekly maintenance meeting.
Long term
• Improve and organize working, production and warehouse area (6S).
• Improve productivity and reduce scrap rate.
• Improve quality.
Physical Demands/Requirements
• Must be able to stand, stoop, reach, grasp, sit or stand for long periods of time, and lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs. safely.
• Noise level in materials area at times can be loud.
• Must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
• Occasional evening and weekend work is required as job demands.
• Non-climate controlled plant environment; standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained at all times.
Requirements
• Ability to become certified and operate a variety of forklifts.
• 3-5 years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Thorough knowledge of safety and quality.
• Strong written and oral communications.
• Associate degree or course level work in manufacturing or business emphasis highly desired.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Injection molding experience a plus.
